The Nemitsas Foundation has been operating for four years which have included three highly successful award ceremonies with a fourth planned for October 2013.
The 1st prize award took place at the Hilton Nicosia on 23/11/2010 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus.
This 1st award was for Medical Sciences. Two top Cypriot scientists were awarded, Professor Kypros Nicholaides who is based in London, for excellence in Clinical Research, and Professor Eleftherios Diamandis who is based in Toronto for excellence in Biomedical Research.
The prizes were handed out by the President of the Republic during a special ceremony attended by over 250 guests.

The 2nd prize award took place at the Presidential Palace’s outdoor theatre on 16/9/2011 and was for Classical Music. Two acclaimed pianists were awarded, Cyprien Katsaris who is based in Paris and Martino Tirimo who is based in London, both of whom, with their performance on the piano, enchant every audience fortunate enough to hear them.

The 3rd prize award took place in the Presidential Palace’s new hall on 27/11/2012.
The award was for Engineering. The ceremony was included in Cyprus EU Council Presidency events and the related logo appeared on the Foundation’s website and all its announcements and forms.
For the first time, the prize was given to only one laureate, Professor Kyriacos A. Athanasiou of the University of California Davis, for his discoveries in Biomedical Engineering Technology.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors during a 26/1/2013 meeting decided that the 4th award would be given in the field of Physics.
The Nemitsas prizes have been recognized by the President of the Republic himself as an important institution, that will always be handed out by the President during a special ceremony at the Presidential Palace in the Autumn.
