The Takis & Louki Nemitsas Foundation, despite several financial problems it faces after the decisions of the Eurogroup of March 15th, decided to continue with the annual award which this year will be in the field of Chemistry.

As in previous cases, the selection of the scientist for 2014 will be done by an International Selection Committee. Τhe prize will be presented by the President of the Republic of Cyprus in the Presidential Palace around early October 2014.

The Board of Directors has decided on their last meeting in November 2013, to go on with the annual award, after the outstanding success of last year, in the presence of the President of the Republic and Mrs. N. Anastasiades.

Last year’s laureate was the distinguished Professor George Efstathiou, famous for his discoveries about the Universe and beyond.

The Foundation’s activities are considered to be one of the most prestigious cultural events of our country.

We also mention that this year the President of the Academic Council of the Foundation is Professor of Psychiatry Nicandros Bouras from London.
