Donation of a Zimmermann Piano to the Limassol Municipality
Cyprien Katsaris who received the Nemitsas Foundation award in 2011 for classical music, as a token of appreciation to the Foundation offered the piano he had used when he was young.
As the piano had not been used for a number of years it required special attention which was successfully completed.
Since the piano could not be used by the Foundation, on 18th October 2014 the Board of Directors decided to donate it to the Municipality of Limassol.
On recommendation by the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Andreas Christou, a member of the Foundation Board of Directors, the said piano now graces the «Panos Solomonides» Cultural Centre.
The formal handover ceremony was held during the Christmas Concert at 8:00pm on 22nd December 2014 in the presence of mezzo soprano Katy Economidou and the «Music persion – persity» when the piano was used for the first time after so many years.
